LCD Monitor Problem

I have an NEC Multisync LCD 1880sx monitor. It works fine in Mandrake 10, but it doesn't work in FC4 or Suse 9.3. There must be some way to make it work... Any ideas? (I'm a newbie, so please explain, if possible)

The file you need to fix is /etx/X11/XF86Config. If it works in Mandriva 10, look at this file. There will be differences in the other distros. There are a lot of things that may not be correct in the other distros.

Look in the monitor section. You will see sections for keybooard, mouse etc. Leave them alone unless you have problems with those parts of your system.

Usually the horizontal sync or vertical sync frequencies are incorect for your monitor.

Another approach to these problems is to use what ever setup utilities the distro supplies to change settings. I do not use any of the distros you have problems with, so have a look at teh forums for video problems and you will see what others have done to fix up the video section.
