Kernel panic when I was installing FC4 on a reiserFS partition
Hello everyone
When I was installing FC4 for the second time on my notebook, yesterday,I got a kernel panic warning. I've heard of that reiserFS partition has many pluses such as it's faster read,so I tryed. This is the installing progress: 1.build a reiserFS partition with Partition Manager 7.0 in Windows XP,and then format it 2.install FC4 on the reiserFS partition with the command:linux selinux=0 reiserfs from CDROM the former progress goes neatly But when the computer reboots, the problem comes: kernel panic not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,3) The system halted here, and I have to stop the power. I don't know why,and how to deal with it. By the way,I'm a new hand linux amateur. And any suggestions? |
Is there anybody interest in the problem?
Thanks for your attention. |
Kernal Panic..
I had the same problem When you get the main boot screen type some junk text such as 'jkhdffjklhasdlf' as linux will not recognize the command Then boot normally after your problems should be fixed |
Is Reiser supported in your kernel you are using?

When I installed FC4, I noticed that the install from CD option did not provide reiserfs as one of the filesystem options.
