Installation Problem !
Hi All,
I was trying to install Fedora 8 in my system using a installation DVD. While installing the 'SE LINUX', the system is going shutdown. It happened so many times. Why so? Is there any method to retrieve the installation where we left, because of shutting down of system due to power failure or any other reason. |
1)Maybe the DVD was not well burned..try verifing the media and anyway, because sometimes some player have problems in recognizing and playing Linux distro even if they're well burned, burn DVD again using a different brand,in my experience Sony and Philips DVD and CD are fabolous,Verbatim and Traxdata not so good as many people think..
If the problems depend on the player and not on the disk, try using a different internal player,an older one,buy one or ask one of your friends to lend you one just for a look..or you could use an usb one setting bios to making it capable to boot from usb player devices.. 2)No,no way...you have to start installation again from the beginning Good luck ! and let me know how it goes ! |
Did you try the distro on a Live CD to make sure that it works well with your hardware? Perhaps try a different one, although this doesn't sound like a hardware problem.

Hi all,
I solved the problem. It was not due to DVD, it was the problem of my Hard Disk. I formatted the full hard disk and tried again. Now it really worked and I have installed Fedora8 in my system successfully. Thank you for your support. |
