Installation on Promise Ultra 100 not working

Hi,

since a few months now, i'm runnig RedHat 9 on my system, and what a good feeling that is. Last week, a friend of me gave me 4 cd's with Fedora Core 2 on it. So, i tried to install it, but i'm running in to a few problems. As i said, i've been working with RH9, without any problems.

With Partition Magic 8 (running @ Windows XP SP2), i removed my ext3 partitions and rezised them. More space for linux (120GB), less space for windows (40gb). My disc looks like this:

on disc 1 (120GB):

/ -> 10 GB, ext3, primair
/home, 30GB, ext3, logical
<swap>, 512MB, logcal
free space (not yet allocated), 79GB

on disc 2 (40GB)
c:, 40GB, NTFS

I don't want to read/write on my windows-disc, so i don't think there should be any problem in this config. In grub i added a line to boot my windows XP, that works.

But:
When i installed FC2, everything worked OK, i had no troubles installing the OS. I formatted my new partitions using Disc Druid, and that also worked OK. But, when i gave a reboot after the installation, it takes about 30secs to show grub, when entering linux it takes up to 5 mins to load the GUI where i have to finish my installation (create user-accounts and so on).

Does anyone now how i can run FC2 on my PC, which was runnig RH9 fine, without problems.

My promise card is originaly an onboard RAID controller, but i placed a jumper, and now it's only an ata100-controller. My onboard-IDE is an ata66 controller

Specs:
AMD Athlon 1.0 GHz (no Athlon XP)
512MB ram
120+40GB on Promise Ultra 100 (no raid config)
plextor 12x VD+rw/-rw
LG 16x DVD
onboard sound
Realtek 8139 NIC
Hauppage WinTV card (tried the installation without the card)
Logitech wireless optikal desktop (on USB)
mobo: some Asus mobo, don't know the type atm.

PS:
forgive my bad english, it's been a while since i wrote my last forum-post here...

Well,

got FC2 running on my PC now. My partition tables were corrupt, i deleted all my partitions and created new ones in the FC2 installer. That works OK.

But, still there's one problem:

Loading grub takes 30 secs, and i can't find a reason why it takes this long. Anyone who's got some idea's???
