Install FC? (you choose)
install the other FC (it will ask you if you want to upgrade or do a new install) making sure you use different partitions!!!and install its bootloader

Start the new system (lets suppose you installed fc2 first and then fc4) and mount the partition that contains /boot of the other fc2

as root:

#mkdir /mnt/fc2_boot
#mount /dev/hda2 /mnt/fc2_boot (change partition number according to real situation. If you're not sure run #/sbinfdisk -l to get a complete list of partitions and their respective sizes.

open /mnt/fc2_boot/grub/grub.conf in you favourite text editor

also open /boot/grub/grub.conf (the fc4 grub conf igyuration file)

Copy the section that describes the fc2 boot instructions (from 'title' to the end) from the fc2 grub file into the fc4 grub.conf file. Save the file and reboot. You should now get the normal fc4 start procedure, but if you hit enter befor it automatically loads the latest kernel it'll show you all available option. One of them (2 probably in total) will serve to start fc2.

how about 2 Fedora 2 Cores in one hdd?
Actually, I had an installed one in one partition, then i decided to install another one (one for college other one for home use) i did install seconde one and create 2 more partitions, / and swap, but didnt create a boot partition, cus there was one already, from my first installation.
So now i cannot see my first installation on boot menu. how can i fix it?

TIA

edit: I mount the hda6 which has the first FC2, but there is nothing under boot folder. no grub, no vmlinuz*.* files... where did they go?

Did you use the same boot folder for both distros? In that case the second install will have overwritten the first as the kernel and vmlinuz etc have exatly the same name. You can start different distros from the same /boot partition, but the file names must be different. I don't see the point in installing 2 FC2 distro though. It would be much easier to simply create 2 different users if you want to keep things seperated...

well, I was thinking the same but I asked my professor, he said there might be a problem when you use two different hardware setup with one Fedora Core, same as Windows. I`ll try this Monday and see if it works at school.

thanks

and yes i installed both FC2 and choose only one /boot partition.

Really shouldn't be a problem installing 2 on the same box

But that comment about different hardware setup puzzles me. What do you mean? You were talking about 2 distros on the SAME box, not on differnt boxes...

I should have made it more clear, sorry.

Well, its an Removable Rack, and i`m using it at home and school, so there are two PCs involve the situation. At home I have P4 1.8, 1GB RDRAM, MSI MB - and at school, P4 2.0 Ghz, 256Mb ram, and i think its an intel board. So Can i use only one distro (FC2) on two different PCs? by carying the HD with the Rack.

Hmm, you have me there. Not the foggiest idea how to go about it. Of course there could be hardware problems: imagine you have an Ati video card at home and an nVidia card at college. If you were to start the same distro (from the same set of partitions!) on both boxes you'd get hardware conflicts.

But the way you describe it it's like you have one distro for home and the other for college. I don't see where the hardware problems come in there, as the set of partitions you use contain specific instructions for the hardware setup at each location.

What you could try is to do two installs (one for each place), but make them share a /usr/local partition with your favourite apps installed on it. I'd still go with two user accounts (to avoid conflicts) but you would be able to set it up in such a way that they are both mambers of the same goup and so can share their files.

just a couple of loose ideas...
