having problems installing Fedora core 11

Hello Linux Community,

I am in need of installation help for Fedora Core 11.

I have used Fedora core 2 and written programs using
gcc while I was in South Korea. It seems that I need
to upgrade to a newer version of Fedora, due to newer
hardware.

I am using windows xp to download the linux iso and burning it
with Nero 7.

What I have done:
a) I have downloaded Fedora core 11 iso, DVD and checked the image
using sha256 on windows.

b) I burned the iso to a DVD using Nero 7.

c) Placing this disk into the CD drive, will not boot the
computer.

d) I have installed Fedora 3 with no network connection on one
of my computers.

e) Fedora 3 will see the ide drive but not the sata drive.

f) Fedora 3 will not see my network card.

Any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate.

Give us the hardware specs: CPU, RAM, video card- embedded, AGP. PCI, etc.
Audio card: same as above.
Hard disk size.
peripherals.
Drives and types.

You need 512M to run Fedora on x86 and at least a 1.5GHz chip.
Burn the CD set on CD-R media only and at or below the rate the driver can read. If the drive is 12X for CD-R you write at 10X, etc.

Up until FC5, you could get away with 192M and 1GHz if you knew how to setup the environment.
FC6 hit, and 256M wasn't going to cut it. You needed 256M for the system and 64M for graphics. This was the minimum.
I switched to Suse and then to Debian.

If you know how to build a fedora system from base to GUI, go for it.
Try using Debian or another distro to build according to the hardware you have.

Burning an iso file in Nero :

Please use the option "Burn an Image"

( Burn as an Image ).

Burning as a data cd / DVD will not work.
And do not use any option "Make bootable"

Slow speed produces the best result.

Thank you guys, and it gives some ideas.

I just got these computers and I am use to using the command line
in Linux.

I will post my computer specs soon but I am a little busy now.

Sincerely

Just be sure to resize.
Your specs are enough to install F11.
You can also install from a single CD then reconfigure everything after you have it all installed.

There is also unetbootin for windows you can use or install from a usbkey.
Anyway, good luck and enjoy linux.

Hello Linux Helpers,

Have installed Fedora core 11 but install can not find the network card.
System has on board network card and I also have an airlink 101 network
with driver code.

I will try to build the airlink driver and install it.
