HAL deamon fails & resume device failing too

Upgraded from Fedora Core 5->6 ages ago, no real problems after installation.
Recently upgraded from Fedora Core 6 -> Fedora 7 (as well as moving partitions as one of my hard drives was on last legs) and after some dependancy issues successfully managed this using yum.
My machine boots fine, however its not much use,
My HAL deamon fails to start on boot, and I cannot restart it when I'm logged on, it fails.
Also, when booting it claims
'Failed to access resume device (/dev/hda4)'
which is my swap partition. I used GParted to make this, and it has been formatted and relabeled several times, and I've changed fstab and looked at my grub configuration etc etc...

I don't know if the two are related (I hope that its becouse of the swap that HAL fails) so hopefully fixing the swap will fix my HAL, but without my HAL deamon i slightly limited with what I can do!

Hope you can help, I've looked around and followed others advice but nothing seems to have worked.

Mike

Have you tried running a fsck on that partition?
