Gnome 2.6 on FC2 not showing active programs in panel

I just installed Fedora Core 2 on my PC, and what must I see when working with Gnome? It doesn't put icons of the active programs in the panel, like KDE or former Gnome versions. Does anyone know how to fix it?

simple solution

You probably need to right click on the panel, click "add to panel..." and select "window list" from the list.

I know this is very very old but it is still coming up as the first result in google for my badly constructed query. I have no idea why my panel changed after an install of Debian and I have never had to add it before in Gnome, so "window list" didn't mean much to me reading through the list.
