1. Yes. How? The install should have no issue with SATA vs PATA... Just install it, the GUI will show you what to do.
2. While I haven't tried this setup, I see no reason why it wouldn't work. There may be some issues with things like lm_sensors, but for the most part, everything is pretty standard these days & should work with all *nix.
3. That, I don't know. Certainly you will get graphics, whether or not they will be accelerated is another issue.
