Fedora core5 install problem for ps3

Hi All,

Having a rather annoying problem installing fedora core 5 on my ps3. I have gotten as far as the kboot command (where i have to insert the install dvd and enter the command install-fc sda). But when i insert the dvd and type the command i get a no VRS found error. The next line then proceeds to tell me : not fedora core 5 dvd.

I was assured that i was burning the iso to good quality dvd's and i tried three times at low speeds 2X and 4X.

Still get same error im thinking now maybe its the burner, or can someone offer a better explanation.

And the dvd's work fine on my laptop, i can explore the disk and all looks fine.

Thanks in advance,

Mani.

Try running Yellow Dog Linux instead, which was designed with the PS3 in mind. http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/re...ownloads.shtml

Yes that's what i did. It looks very similar to a Fedora install.

That's because YDL is based off of Fedora Core, so you'll notice similar things between them.

If you want to use YDL on the PS3, I think you need to get a USB mouse and keyboard to use it.

Hey, I am new to anything linux.

I have gone through the steps of installing Fedora Core 5 as advised many places on the internet. However, I never get the oportunity to make a password even though the Fedora DVD does install all 100 % of the program. When it finally ejects the dvd and asks me to put in the add-on cd it is quickly followed by a "install cancelled" message. I have tried to unplug the keyboard during installation as well but little it helps.

A couple of things that I do notice to be peculiar is this message before I write "install-fc sda". It says "Header V3 DSA signature: No key ID
4f2a6f2d"

Furthermore, after about 38 % of installing it says "No uuid done"

Does anyone know what this means? Please HELP!!!

Try a newer version than FC5. Fedora 9 is about to be released.
