Fedora Core not recognizing my Toshiba Satellite laptop touchpad.

So I'm installing Fedora Core 1, and all is well except it's not recognizing a mouse. My Toshiba Satellite laptop technically has no mouse--it's a touchpad--but nonetheless the only options I am given are for the generic mice, and none of them work.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I return the distro and the SAMS book to the store and get a different distro for this model laptop? Help, please.

You did not mention what model of Satellite that you are using, but you might want to take a stop over at:

There are several fairly detailed discription of linux installations, problems incured and often resoltions for them. Check to see what type of success others have had with linux install on your model and you might find the answer that you are looking for.
