Hi,
I bought an emachines m6807 with Athlon64 and tried to install Fedora Core I for x86_64. It freezes (entirely) at the media check screen. Perhaps more accurately, it fails to respond to keyboard input.

There were no problems loaded fedora core 2 test (1.90) x86 version on the same box (though it does have some problems.) I'm now loading the original fedora core I x86 (and that's loading fine.)

Question:
Is there a known incompatibility with Fedora x86_64 and the m6807/m6805?
Is there a way to bypass the media check screen and go straight to an install?

Background:
I've tried both the graphical and text only install--they both start at the media check (OK Cancel) screen (which is textual.)

Hmmm, now if only I had a USB keyboard laying around... (don't usually need a keyboard with a laptop....)

I Got the same laptop. I havent tried fedora yet, but gentoo CD live CD does come with a special kernel for emachines. The kernel has to be compiled and started in a special way to get it running M6805.
1) USB support has to be built in into the kernel. If its a module, u get the error that u get.
2) Pass the parameters 'pci=noacpi noapic' to the kernel.

Read the whole thread in general and the post in special. YOu will know what you have gotten yourself into .
I hope this helps. I am still struggling with my installation. Will keep you posted of the progress if u wish.
