Fedora Core 4 boot hangs
I have just installed Fedora Core 4 on a PC with one 40Gb hard drive, partitioned into 4, it has a dell utilities, a Slackware 10.1 partition, 2Gb swap space, and the Fedora partition. I had lilo working with Slackware, so after installing without the recommended GRUB (no error messages), I booted into Slackware and set up my lilo.conf, and it worked fine, I then altered fstab to mount the Fedora partition so I could fix anything that went wrong.
I then rebooted, and lilo worked, found the partition, and began to boot it, but every time, it hangs with: VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly. Freeing unused kernel memory: 120K freed Warning: Unable to open initial console. After browsing one or two forums, a few people had said that /dev/tty0 was mssing, so i checked my Fedora's /dev, and it was empty! I have no idea how to fix this, so any help here would be massivley appreaciated Thanks in advance -Dan |
i could be wrong but udev dynamically creates the /dev filesystem so perhaps the issue is with udev. check and see if it is installed. Other then that i dunno. sorry couldn't be more help.
