Fedora Core 3 DVD Install

I know I am missing something very trivial. I can boot to my DVD and it comes up with the option of how I would like to install Fedora. The options do not contain DVD, only CD ROM (and HTTP, FTP, Hard Disk, etc.). I choose to install from CD ROM and it says that there is no CD present....duh. Where is the option to install from DVD? Am I just missing it? It would be absurd to provide a DVD iso and not an option to install from it!

Thanks in advance.

I might add, the drive is a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. As I previoulsy mentioned, the DVD will boot, but it seems to only recognize the CD portion of the drive to install media. I have heard of others running into the same type of error. Anyone else heard of this?

Me Too

I have the same problem. I also tried to use an external USB DVD-RW as a CD-ROM and the same error came up again. I don't think it's the CD-ROM.

Anyone know?

I just tried booting to it a few more times and it eventually recognized it and began to install. However, to this day, I cannot get Fedora to intstall via DVD. I have to use the CD's. From what I hear (from a friend who attended a Linux training meeting), the Fedora install from DVD has seen quite a bit of failures. Installed first time from the CD's. For what it's worth, I now run Xandros exclusively.

Xandros really does offer a great look and feel. I run the Professional version (2.5), and I have heard the Business edition is even better (same L & F, more features). I found the Business Edition 3.0 for just over $100. That may just be my next purchase. As for usability, most Linux distros are pretty complicated to add to a Windows Network (configuring Samba, etc.). I have not yet tried to join the machine to my current Windows network, but the manual says it is very trivial. CD Burning is easier (drag and drop), and hopefully they will support DVD burning soon.

Good luck.
