Fedora 7 doesn't install with devel tools or gcc?
 
I just installed Fedora 64bit core 7.0 and it never gave me options to install any packages.

Now it's telling me I don't have gcc or anything else. I need it to install OpenSound so I can use my USB sound adapter (kernel drivers won't work).

Argh!

If you use the dvd, then you have an option to install development tools. If you install using the live cd, then you have to install the development tools using YUM e.g.

and if you use KDE as a desktop I would highly recommend to install kyum as it's a lot better then the simple pupit/yum which is installed by default. Also look a bit further down how to install the forgotten update notification in KDE autostart.

Then I would add livna as a repository if you need codecs.......

Ah, repositories. How do you add them?

that depends..... Some of them (like livna) have an rpm you install, others have to be manually entered. As I only used yum for a very short time I can't tell you how to do it there (naturally there's the CLI too). In Kyum just select the last tab and enter them there.
