Fedora 1 upgrade to Fedora ? without hosing snort?

I am running core 1. I want to upgrade to 3 or 4, but I can't afford to hose snort due to SOX reports, and management anxiety. How do I save the snort world, while I upgrade? Will fresh install be better/worse than upgrade?

Usually never had much trouble upgrading from fc1 to fc2 to fc3 to fc4. A few issues on the upgrade from f3 to fc4. This is what I would do and if you have the down time. Get a second harddrive and mirror the contents from one to the other. Then only using the second drive perform the upgrade and see if all is working. If not then perform a fresh install on the second drive and copy over needed configuration files and bring that up online. If you can duplicate the entire machine hardware and all then you can install on it and then swap it in when ready. Best thing is to make sure you have backups and can restore if anything goes wrong.

Thanks for the info. Duplicate hardware is likely approach. I can't risk the SOX reports not getting produced.
