FC% installtion problem.. unkown interrupt at EIP 00000060

Sat down last night with the intention of loading up FC5 on a XP machine and making a dual boot out of it. Loaded up the DVD and pressed enter to go into the graphics mode, getas far as booting the kernel then my screen floods with the message :
Unknown interrupt or fault at EIP 00000060 c0100231 00000230
Then machine will reboot back to the first screen and try to start over

Info on this particular machine:
Celeron 2.93 GHz cpu
ST340015A hard drive
82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics controller

Is this a hardware related issue?
Is there something I should do prior to booting the DVD in order to make a dual bootable machine?

I have no reservation about wiping XP completely off since I have another machine available.

Anyone seen this? All help and suggestions would be appreciated ....

Back to the bit bucket..........

Well tried to load up Knoppix on the same machine to see if I could get it running... now I get this error :

Unknown interrupt or fault at EIP 00000060 c0100295 00000294

Beginning to believe it is a hardware issue... Anyone know of a site i can check hardware compatibilty out on?

Back to the bit bucket..... Thanks !!!!!!!!

Solution FOUND !!! after a sleepless night and constant searching out on Google I found the solution .... LINUX ACPI=OFF

Install is currently running on the machine... in case anyone else gets this error it was on a HP Pavilion a705w

Different Computer

Just wanted to confirm. I added "linux acpi=off" to the end of Ubuntu 6.10 boot parameters. FYI you can just throw it on the end. Works like an absolute dream. Thanks for posting the solution txhunter20.
