Editing Sources for adding Mirrors to Yum.

Ok, you can feel free to call me an idiot... Cause I am a complete Linux newbie.

I need to edit my sources file to change my mirrors, so my up2date works much faster.

Ok, fine, I go there, and I don't have permission to edit them...oooookay...

So I fire up the terminal and log in as my root and I still don't have permission.

So what am I doing wrong?

Could you post the output of ls -l sources.list for that directory. Could you also post the EXACT steps you are taking in console and the responses you get to each command (ie copy and paste from terminal).

so my up2date works much faster.
Simply su to Root user in an xterm then do

editor /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources

were editor is your text editor - for me its

kedit /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources

then comment out your existing repos. and put you're two new ones in like this:

yum fedora-core-1 <http://....../1/i386/os/>

yum updates-released <http://...../updates/1/i386/>
