can not find root file. create symlink


Hello,

I'm trying to install fedora 11 using a live cd when after i pass the fedora logo loading i get this error

------------------------------------------
WARNING: Cannot find root file system!
------------------------------------------

Create symlink /dev/root and then exit this shell to continue
the boot sequence.

bash: no job control in this shell
bash-4.0#

I'm a newbie so when ever you answer can you be very specific in what i should do.

If you're getting this error on booting from the live CD, then it sounds like you have a bad CD image - possibly a badly burned CD.

No it isn't the CD i tried it on a different computer and it worked... I just tried a Ubuntu and even XP cds and each gave a different reason for not working so I'm not sure whats the problem now.

I had fedora 10 installed on this same laptop in the summer but i deleted its partition because i needed the HD space and back then windows vista stopped loading since feorda was the main boot. Maybe this can help give those with experience a better understanding of the problem
