LAMP is just a term that defines that a server uses Linux Apache MySQL and PHP, it's not a server in se. In order to install a LAMP you'll first have to start with installing your Linux distro of choice and take it from there. Most of the installation scripts of almost every distro give you the possibility to choose extra software to install. Selecting Apache, MySQL server and PHP will install the basic necessities on which you can work later to fine-tune. If you need/want SSL just install OpenSSL.
So, start out by choosing a distro and start with the installation.
Any problem and/or question you encounter can be posted here and will surely be answered by someone if you exercise some patience.
They offer a project called XAMPP. This will include Apache, MySQL, Perl, and PHP in downloadable and easy to configure packages for various Linux distros, Windows as well as betas for Solaris and MacOS. It does include SSL for Apache.
