How far do you get?
Does this happen when booting an installed distro, or before anything is installed?
If it happens booting from installation-media, then tell us what that is - a CD, floppy, network install?

It happens when booting from installation-media : FC4-i386-DVD.

I only pass by the first loadings .... then the screen turns black and finally appears that message .

[<c01012b1>] Kernel_thread_helper+0x5/0x14
code: c8 fc ff 8b 45 ... 08
<0>Kernel Panic - Syncing _ attempted to kill init!
...
[<c01002a0>]init+0x0/0xf0

I am also having eactly the same problem when trying to boot off my newly installed gentoo.I earlier got the same error inmy previous gentoo installation and I solved it by adding some extra parameters to the kernel and other lines in the grub..
I dont remember them now.
Can somebody help us?
