yum retrieves fc9 packages in fc8?

Hello All,

Recently did a new install of Fedora 8 from dvd. Everything appeared to go ok. Shortly after install the gui package manager reports "775 packages ready to be updated". I tell that to run and it hangs forever. I did a "yum update" from a console. As it is checking packages I see ones with the extension *.fc9 described as 'marked for update'. After the check yum asks if it is ok to proceed with download, I respond yes and again I see packages with fc9 extensions being downloaded. After a while it hangs and I see errors of 'package *.fc9 conflicts with ...' which I assume is an already installed fc8 package.

Here is the output of 'yum repolist':
repo id repo name status
InstallMedia Fedora 8 enabled
development Fedora - Development enabled
fedora Fedora 8 - i386 enabled
fedora-source Fedora 8 - Source enabled
updates Fedora 8 - i386 - Updates enabled

Any help here is appreciated.

Thanks.

You have the development repo enabled. You will note that it does not say F8 development. If you have installed that many F9 packages, I would do another fresh install and make sure that the development repo was shut off before you try a update.

Toooo obvious! I saw the lack of a number after "development" and just assumed it defaulted to "8". I guess with computers assume NOTHING! Thanks for the help and quick reply! On to a re-install.
