YUM: missing baseurl

I've just installed Fedora 6 and am having problems getting YUM and Software Updater to work properly. For instance, the extract below shows the "Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core" error which is exactly the same error I get with Software Updater:

[root@tntukl20943l etc]# su -c 'yum grouplist'
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Group Process
Setting up repositories
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mir...re-6&arch=i386 error was
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')>
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Looks like your yum repo might have an error in it...

Edit the file /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo .

There should be three sections in it; [fedora], [fedora-debuginfo], and [fedora-source].

In the [fedora] section, there will be a line that starts with "mirrorlist=". Mine says...
Code:
mirrorlist=http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-$releasever&arch=$basearch
Put a "#" in front of yours, and add mine as a new line below it. Run yum to see if it works. If it does work, go back in and delete the original mirrorlist line.

If it doesn't work, you can go back in, delete mine, and then delete the "#" in front of the line that starts with "baseurl=". It should be a couple above the mirrorlist line.

Hopefully, one of those suggestions will work.

Hmm, actually I think I've found my problem. My http_proxy wasnt right, I've corrected that and now a full yum update seems to be progressing!

Thanks anyway!
