yum install xine doesnt work

for some reason yum installing xine doesnt work in fedora 9, 10, 11:

what i do after a fresh install is:
Code:
# su -c 'rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm'
# sudo yum install xine xine-lib
# cd /usr/lib/codecs
# sudo wget http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/all-20071007.tar.bz2
# sudo tar -xvjf all-20071007.tar.bz2; sudo mv */* .
but when i run xine i get an error saying that it cant open the mpeg decoder.

is the xine from rpmfusion fubar ?

It could be... have you considered downloading the source and compiling it manually?

The latest xine-lib and xine source code files are available, and I've found that they compile just fine on FC11. So if the packagekit / yum approach is stuffing you around, try downloading the code and compiling it yourself, it should work...

Post again if you need assistance in that regard.

Ok, you say there you tried

Quote:
xine-lib-1.1.15
Have you tried xine-lib-1.1.16.3.tar.bz2?

'cause I got xine compiled just fine with

Code:
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 2606481 2009-02-10 20:06 xine-ui-0.99.5.tar.gz
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7468182 2009-06-21 18:40 xine-lib-1.1.16.3.tar.bz2
on FC11 with the stock kernel..

Also, when you ./configured, did you see ANY errors at all? To slow down the output of ./configure try

Code:
./configure | more
also see

Code:
./configure --help | more
for options - these should work for both Xine and Xine-lib.
