yahoo messenger on FC2

Hello!

My yahoo messenger won't work :(
I installed it and when I run /opt/ymessenger/bin/ymessenger I get an segmentation fault.
What's that and how can I get it working?

Thank you!
Boby

What does it say when you use the command line to open the Messenger ? Just "segmentation fault"?

Just install the latest version of GAIM.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gaim/

It works perfectly :)

Code:

[boby@localhost boby]$ /opt/ymessenger/bin/ymessenger
Segmentation fault

...that's what I get.
Before I was connected to an LAN and yahoo messenger worked perfect. Now I have to use a modem for 3 months and after I installed this modem it doesn't want to work anymore. I tried a new installation and ... nothing :(

the problem was that I used the messenger on an LAN and that had an proxy, all properties where stored in ~/.ymessenger
so I used this: "rm -fdr ~/.ymessenger" and then started the yahoo messenger again. It worked!

If you need to use YIM, the best way is to use Yahoo Messenger from Yahoo website, it is the most stable, others like gaim, kopete just usually doesn't work with YIM, I can't stop keep in touch with my friends for a month for those guy to fix their program.

Simply because it's not supported in gaim.
Yahoo try to block all 3rd-party IM software once in a while so it's very likely that you will not be able to use YM using gaim soon. Otherwise, I like gaim too.
