XGL in FC6
How is the XGL support for Fedora? I know XGL works better in Gnome, but has anyone got XGL to work in KDE with Fedora? Does anyone know without how XGL will work in Fedora Core release 6?

Linux has a lot of variations on software such as distros. Now we have variations on xgl, and it's likely that we will have variations of the Linux kernel after Linus isn't around anymore.
I will research AIGLX, but I'd like to ask a few questions about it.
Does it do the same things as xgl, and how many differences are there? Could you tell a difference between it and xgl?
Does it run as fast as xgl, and how does it use resources?

I did read and some of my questions are not answered. Does AIGLX have the cube and other same effects as XGL? All I saw were three effects that it had about minimization.

The cube is not part of either XGL or AIGLX; that's part of Compiz. In general, you shouldn't care which software is used, as the user interface will be the same. The component nature of the user interface allows subcomponents to compete, as XGL and AIGLX are.
I could never get aiglx going in FC5. followed the instructions, turned it on, nothing happened. either gnome or kde.
If you're trying to get AIGLX working in FC5, it would be better to start a separate thread. There have been a number of issues: old packages in the test repository that stopped working after an update, Nvidia packages not compatible, etc. Each has a workaround, but remember that AIGLX in FC5 was just experimental, and just for testing. The primary effort at this point is towards FC6 release on 10/11.

right. I think the problem is that the release nvidia drivers don't support it, you have to get the beta drivers. screw that.
no, I wasn't trying to get aiglx going, i was just ventin.. :

I'll be installing Fedora Core release 6 that comes with AIGLX on October 11, 06 but I might wait a month, so that most of the bugs have been worked out sense FC6 will be new.
