X won't start: fglrx module problem

I've upgraded from FC4 to FC5 and now X won't start any more, telling me that it "failed to load module 'fglrx'". I had installed ATi drivers for FC4 and I think that is the problem. What can I do to be able to start X again?
My idea: set the configuration of x to use standard vesa drivers instead of the ATi drivers, but how?

Please help, I'm soo desperate

I don't have any xorg.conf.vesa file or so in my /etc/X11/ directory.

The file you want is /etc/X11/xorg.conf. In the "Device" section, try setting the Driver to "vesa". In the section "Module", try commenting out the line that says Load "fglrx".

Before installing the ati driver, you should have backed up your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Just run xorgsetup again to configure X.
