WPC54G Supported?

will the linksys wpc54g work through fedora? Its the only part that has bothered me about my system and red hat. cant get on the net. cant do any networking or anything if my card wont work, so its kept me on a dual boot windows system. But at some point id like to do away with windows and go all linux but that cant happen until the wpc54g works. any ideas?

Go to http://www.linuxant.com. Then click Drivers->WLAN driverloader. This works for my boradcom 54g in Fedora. You will have to test it with your card and see (the driver isnt specific to broadcom). Unfortunately the license is 20 dollars to use the driver....

If you get the error when trying to access the webpage you get told to go to, take perl out of the loop by setting up from the command line:

Try:

dldrconfig --license

(you might have to specify some other options....play around till it works!).

Let me know if this works.

thanks for trying to help me. ive been playing around a little more, but to no avail. when i try to do dldrconfig --license, I still get about the same errors. below are some of the more important looking lines to me:

Linuxant Driverloader...

Can't locate CGI.pm in @INC ( ...lists a bunch of /usr directories) at webconfdocs/cgi-bin/config.cgi line 10.
BEGIN FAILED--compilation aborted at webconfdocs/cgi-bin/config.cgi line 10.

ERROR: perl module syntax checking failed. Web configurator will not work
Perhaps you need to install the "perl-CGI" package to fix this problem

-----------

I never specifically installed a perl-CGI package. I did the standard rh9 install and let it do its own thing. any thoughts?

There is a way to install perl-cgi using something called cspan. Unfortunately I had a friend do it for me when I needed it (for afs, not driverloader) so I dont know how. You will have to google for it maybe...

I often find playing with settings for long enough fixes a lot of things

did you have to get perl-cgi in the end?

yeah well i did a quick search on the redhat site and found a perl-cgi rpm. dropped it right in, reinstalled driverloader and off i went. had a few problems with some previous networks attempts i tried, but once i got that cleared up i was fine. have a lot to learn as far as navigating the network through linux now. not quite like it is in windows
