I almost have it working. I have a linksys WUSB11 v2.8. After installing the correct driver (at76c503a), I just went to system tools and it configured it automatically. Now the light is blinking on the adapter, but it's just not connecting. I'm not sure which driver you'll need, or if it is already installed on Fedora.

I have a Broadcom card working with ndiswrapper, but a prism card should be supported natively and you shouldn't need anything like ndiswrapper.

Here are a few links that look like they may pertain to your card:

Could you post a brief HOW-TO on how you got your Broadcom working? I have FC1 running on a Compaq Presario 2585 laptop w/a Broadcom WIFI. Thanks.

I believe you need wlan-ng or equivalent to support prism cards(though some just don't like linux):

Also, check out the Wireless networking forum.

almost there

So I successfully installed the drivers for my WIFI using the ndiswrappers. Here is where I'm at:

[root@]# ifup wlan0
/sbin/ifup: configuration for wlan0 not found.
Usage: ifup <device name>

I also get these when trying to activate the wireless card in "System Tools/Network Device Control":

/sbin/ifup: line 48: keys-eth1: Permission denied
Users cannot control this device.

Determining IP information for wlan0.../sbin/dhclient-script: configuration for wlan0 not found.

[root@]# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

WIFI is up!

I got it working. I had to change "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1" to ifcfg-wlan0. Thanks for the tips.

Glad you have it working but I would have preferred you not changing the file ifcfg-eth1 and just creating a file ifcfg-wlan0 with the information in HCL. I am assuming you don't need the file ifcfg-eth1 for other connection.

To JC80

I have a linksys WUSB11 v2.6 , you mention installing a driver for your 2.8.

I think I have a litte problem with mine cause since I have connected the linksys WUSB11 v2.6 my machine freezes at every first power on , and after a soft reset it works fine .. It must be a problem initialising the usb wlan adapter from linksys , but i'm not able to solve the problem

You mention that after installing the drivers it works fine for you , could you tell me how you exactly installed the driver (and how you got it !) .. cause I hope that re-installing the driver will fix my freez problem (and get rid of the kernel OOPS'es )

this is my situation:

* REDHAT 9 user (original kernel, never re-compiled, in original cd installed form)

* have linksys WUSB11 adapter (willing/will return)

* using ndiswrapper

My question is how do you install kernel and ndiswrapper.. the first steps are very vague... it just says make install... giving no path name or anything.. and then it says ndiswrapper arg arg etc... assuming program is compiled on systemm.... this is worst linux tutorial I have ever read.

My request is this: Someone who has had SUCCESS getting ndiswrapper to work, pls spend 10 minutes to write more detailed post tutorial! There is nothing out there on internet.. maybe this is easier than I think it is.. pls share.
