Why don't mp3's play in rhythmbox?

I descovered rhythmbox, so i tried to put mp3's in it, no dice. Does it support mp3's? the mp3's are from windows, i ripped them from cd's using iTunes

Also, if the sound doesn't play for a cd, i ought to look for a new sound card driver? when i came to the "sound card" page of the installation, i didnt hear the sound i was supposed to. if i do need a new driver i can provide info on it, so i know what im looking for, but where should i look for one?

In order for further assistance to be render please post the following:
Make and model of soundcard.
Ouput of lspci
Output of lsmod

Are any errors reported when trying to play a CD?

The "mp3"'s from I-tunes do not work, because I-tunes rips to AAC, so make sure you have AAC support installed.

well to tell you the truth, i underestimated FC5, and over estimated myself, i left my speakers pluged into my turntable...

...after changeing plugs it works.

But--

how would i go about getting AAC support? Also i remember changing a setting in itunes from "aac" to "mp3", wether that means anything.

nah, i get an error from rythmbox, "this is not an audio stream"

Did you installed correct codecs for system? If not then try:

As root:

rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm
yum install yumex

After this, you 'll have new program called "yumex" in your Applications->system tools menu, open it, update your kernel, and search for "mp3" in install section, also you can try: xvid, avi, mplayer, xine, etc..

I have done that as you said,and I have install yumex,but after I choose the mplayer,I do not know how to install it.

Hmm) Check needed packages, press add to queue, go to queue, and press process queue

After it yumex will begin to download software, then it will install everything. After that you can see installed programs in your menu.

This means that you are wanting to install *.rpm file

Open up terminal, Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

type there:

su

(it will ask for root password, but you will not see it when you will type it)

then paste there:

rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm

This will install Livna repository
