Install Media

or

Fedora Desktop Live Media

or

edora KDE Live Media

?

Install media is for installing Fedora. Live media is for previewing fedora from the CD without installing it.

You can install from the live cds too. It is probably more efficient to install from the livecd so you are not downloading stuff you will not use.

Using the "Install Media" version will give you a copy of all packages available for the given version of the distribution. You don't have to install everything, but you will have it available in case of need or when Internet connection is down.

It's normally easier to install from LiveCDs if you want a desktop/laptop type system.

If you want a server-type configuration, it's better to install from installation media, as you can select/deselect packages.

is there a good instruction somewhere as how to partition my harddrive?

also if i just want to try how the OS looks and feels can i run it on top of windows?

The livecd allows you to run it without installing it. Thus the "live" in livecd.
