Hi,

I would like to change a bit of configuration on the login,

so it loads 2 xterms when I login.

Which file am I meant to modify?

It depends a bit. If you use Gnome or KDE you could use the 'save session' option which both of those provide you; close all apps, launch two Xterms, save session (or "log out and save"), then just take session saving off and you should be fine. If you want your XTerms be launched no matter which desktop system/window manager you are running, you need to alter some of the files X loads; I might be wrong but maybe it's something like .xinitrc or Xsession that you need to alter. For a console login (which I prefer) you would just use .bashrc or .bash_profile but of course you mean the graphical login, and there those files aren't going to help much.

I am using gnome desktop
I belive xession file is for KDE which I have tried while I was at uni.

what is the profile file for gnome?
