Which Fedora to install on an old AMD Athlon 1600+

Hi,

I am a newbie in Linux, and want to setup Fedora on my old pc to play with. Please advise which version will work comfortable on AMD Athlon 1600+, 512Mb memory?

I want to move from Win to Linux, so
I installed Fedora 9 through VMWare player, but its way too slow.
Currently I have Win XP on it and it works more or less acceptable.
The PC intended mostly to work with GIMP and Scribus

Thanks in advance,
Victor

Support for F9 will drop in June (?, one month after F11 is released), so I would not invest a lot of time in F9.

If you were trying to run F9(or most current gui distros) under VMware on an XP system with only 512 ram, it is going to be slow(two modern OSs sharing 512 is just not going to cut it). If you want to run it under VMware bump your memory up to 2GB (memory is cheap right now). Otherwise you can look at a duel boot situation.
