I thought that the MBR was where you needed to install the boot loader? I just installed fedora 6, and rebooted at the end of install, and it gives me "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER".

Did I do something wrong. In slackware that is where I install it. I looked it up yesterday before I started this install, and I read that you want to have it in the MBR.

Can someone tell me that this is supposed to be installed on the /boot partition? Or how do I go about fixing this so it does boot up? What do I do to avoid this for next time.

Yep it should be installed to the MBR, the only time you install it to /boot is if there's already a boot loader in the MBR and you don't want to disturn it.

I get a similar system disk error, when I have the "a" drive disabled, but just pressing enter will boot it, without doing anything else.

So here are some questions.
Did you install grub to the MBR?
Is your bios set to boot the drive you installed on?

There's been plenty of posts on how to reinstall grub, in can be done from CD1 or the DVD in rescue mode, if that's what you need to do.
