wanted help on general queries on fedora core1


Hello

I have been using fedora core1 since a while i have got some douts pls kindly help me

1) can i make rpm file from binary files?
2) which desktop is good for graphics and sound clarity gnome or kde?
3) i have a modem connected to com1 hence i have setup my modem through kppp on tys0
and the query modem works fine but the problem is somtimes i get connected to net fast and sometimes i dont pls help

pls help

Yes! In the RPM spec file just don't compile.

Not sure what you mean here. You can open any sound or graphic application from either Gnome or KDE using the command line if an icon does not exist. With Fedora the Blue Curve thing is supposed merge a little of both desktops, but the applications you use have more to do with what you have installed not what desktop you use.

Sorry to here you're still using a modem. Not sure this is really a Linux problem. When you connect to your ISP you're always subject to good and bad connections. If your IP information looks correct including DNS and static routes there is probably not much you can do. Try using the route and ifconfig commands to trouble shoot.
