vnc viewer hangs

Hi, everyone.

I'm connecting to a dedicated Fedora Core 3 server that I have recently installed KDE and vncserver on.

After a doing a bunch of configuration, with firewalls, xinit, kde, and vnc, I finally got the server to startx successfully, but when I logon to the vnc from my Windows XP desktop, it only accepts input to the shell for a few seconds, and then hangs. There are no connection errors; the GUI simply freezes.

I can quit TightVNC, and then login again, and I'll see that I've returned to my previous state, but with the inputted text on the shell there.

So, I am succesfully sending data to the vnc server, it's just sending output for the first few clicks I make in the GUI, and then simply not sending any more back. I can't imagine it being a latency problem, since I'd wait for up to 30 seconds for any visual response from the server, plus the Putty terminal is always very responsive.

I've checked memory, and it has plenty left.

I also often connect to my university's VNCServer with KDE, and that has never given me problems.

Does anyone have any insight as to what might cause this?

A little update:

I found out that it seems to happen whenever I use the scrollbars in KDE.
