I had to reinstall RedHat 2 days ago. Now VNC is not working. I wanted to work from my windows desktop to work on linux system.
Initially i had a problem with getting the GUI, but i edited the Xstartup file to get that working. Now, the problem is that i can't even connect to the terminal.. From other machine... the error i get is host not found... i can ping the IP on linux machine but when enter that in VNC viewer on other machine i.e. 10.0.1.11:1 ... It doesn't work.

I don't see the VNC service there on the "Services" in System tools-->server apps
When it was working it used to be there..
However, I do get the .pid file when i type vncserver on the terminal...
Please let me know if you can narrow it down.. Just tell me what could be and wat CANNOT be the issue, so i don't spend time on configurations that won't help.
I went to System Settings-->Server Settings-->Services and couldn't find xvnc... I remember seeing VNC when it used to work,
Hey, can you tell me how to uninstall the rpm and install from source.
I went to the system logs-->Installed RPMS, i saw
vnc-4.0-1.beta4.11.i386.rpm
I think i was using the vnc 3.3.6 before... i want to try uninstalling vnc4.0 and install vnc 3.3.6. i am gonna look for how to do it..
you can tell me if you have time.
