VLC and WVC210, Sound, Mic

Fc11/kde/ Linksys wvc210 Webcam

Can't get any audio with WVC210 webcam, camera has it's own Speaker, Mic jacks.

The setup in Web Camera has audio, Mic (G.711 u-law) enabled to HalfDuplex.

Vlc has audio enable, Output Type set to OSS, Device /dev/dsp .

If I Record from VLC, Video is fine, but no Audio Playback (With headset, mic, plugged into Camera).

My computer can record Audio from sound card and playback.

PLEASE HELP !!!

I want to make Videos W/audio of myself so My Hound Dogs can watch them in their Dog House.

hi

I don't have your device but lets start the ball rolling.

1) what are the usb ids?..run lsusb pls

2) are those jacks 3.5 mm?

3) so run alsamixer...tab to capture...(install alsa-utils to get these commands)

look at the picture in Sound in section pls
http://sidux.com/index.php?module=Wi...=MixerSettings

connect your mic to front mic and set input to front mic and set volume up and unmute....depending on mixer controls you use...I prefer you alsamixer.

If you have no front mic connector change to mic which = back mic and raise the volume for that setting.

Remember if you have multiple devices...you can then see section webcam mic...where you get a choice.....but that option may not work for you as you have ONLY 3.5 mm connnectors? or are there more?

In other words your cam is not cam...to alsamixer its merely a sound in or sound device.

So work out how to get sound in first then record something.

arecord -d5 -c 2 -r 16000 one

play it back with your preferred player.or aplay.

if sound in now works....then most problems with sound out are a lot easier to troubleshoot

If you prefer kmix see the bottom pix

good luck

The webcam I'm using is a Linksys WVC210 Network cam that communicates Wireless as http://172.16.1.35/img/video.mjpeg with VLC.

The sound is working normal on computer, Mic, speakers . I can record from computer.

I'm sure my problems exist between Webcam and VLC, Settings on webcam for sound and Mic is enabled. I have the audio enabled in VLC.
I'm sure it's just a settings between Webcam and VLC,

The Webcam has it's own audio out and mic. and yes they are 3.5mm jacks.

hi, mickeyboa

the stream you are using doesn't have audio content. you have two ways of getting video&audio together in vlc or in any other player, e.g. mplayer:

1. http://username:password@cameraIP/img/video.asf
2. rtsp://username:password@cameraIP:port/img/media.sav

Hope it helped :)
