Plugins: mozilla-vlc 0.8.6h-1.lvn8
When attempting to view trailers, .wmv files via Opera browser, the webpage states I need to install WMP plug-in. I prefer VideoLanClient (VLC) and Opera for all my video viewing (off or online) and web browsing, respectively. I have the "mozilla-vlc" plug-in installed and WMP clips play flawlessly in Firefox, but not Opera. With Opera I receive a vacant square were the trailer should be viewed from. Now, I thought all *.wmv, *.qt, & *.mov files would be handled by the "vlcplugin." Said plugin, libvlcplugin.so, is in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ by default and setup correctly (I think), under Opera's Advanced > Downloads section. Opera states it is using "VLC multimedia plugin," libvlcplugin.so, to handle *.wmv, *.wmx files with a MIME type of "video/x-ms-wmv." Am I overlooking something ?
I solved my Opera video problem by installing the following plugin via yum.
gecko-mediaplayer.i386 0.6.2-1.lvn8 installed
mplayer.i386 1.0-0.91.20080531svn.l installed
