Using digital extraction to listen to audio CD's?

Hi,
I have two CD players in my box. The first has an audio cable to the sound card and the second does not. I was looking for ways to listen to audio CD's in the second CD player (other than putting an audio cable from it to the soundcard). I found that XMMS had a plugin that allowed ths but I haven't seen any of the other audio players with this feature. Can anybody point me to any other player that can do this? Thanks.
