usb memory - does not copy

hy guys,

my fc9 continuous getting problems ... now the usb.

i have a kingstom 8M wich was working without problems with fc6. Now, it is recognized, but when i try to copy something it just crash ... not responding, then i cant unmount the volume because another program is using it, and so on...

taking a look at the device manager, i got some strange values:

Code:
revision: 1.10
usb version: ??????.??
connected at: ??????.?? Mbit/s
since i installed fc9 i have problems with the DVD/CD and the usb memory ... i am unable to do backups :-(

how can i reconfigure it ?

thanks in advance,

hector

If this is really 8 MB (not a typo) then it could be very old - 8 GB is common today and my oldest has 128 MB and is at least 4 years old.
Flash only has so many write cycles...after that it is starting to fail.
You could try to re-format it and/or run a read-write test on it:
Code:
mkfs.ext2 -v -c -c /dev/sda
should do that
(I assumed here sda is a usb flash device and not one of your harddisks...)

Are your usb-ports configured correctly?
For USB 2.0 you need to have EHCI enabled in your Kernel.
Device Drivers ---> USB support ---> EHCI HCD (USB 2.0) support
as well as eighter UHCI HCD or OHCI HCD support.
lspci should tell you what kind you have.
If they are built as modules, check if these are loaded.
lsmod | grep hci

If EHCI is not there it will work, but only very slow - just as USB 1.0/1.1
