Upgrading from 32bit to 64bit

Hi, i had wrongly installed FC5 32 bit on a 64 bit pc. Now i am upgrading it. I wanted to know if all my packages will be upgraded to 64bit or is it better to do a fresh install?

Installing the 32-bit OS on a 64-bit system should not be a problem many do without any issues and is not really wrong. With that said IMHO it would be better to do a fresh install, mainly to save space (no reason to have all the un-needed 32-bit packages installed).

In some cases installing the 32-bit application is a better idea (firefox [for plugins] and mplayer [for codecs] come to mind) then having the 64-bit version installed.

Thanks, I've already started the fresh install. I think that i was actually getting a problem with the pc as when the FC5 32 bit was installed it was really slow. It was slower than my 32 bit computers. Thats why i thought the the fact i installed a 32 bit os on a 64 bit pc might have caused this. Ok i'll let u know when the installation is finished if its faster or not!

Hi, The server is fast now but i am getting a problem with the mysql connection. All connections that i make with the mysql is slow. It takes too much time to connect and my application seems slow to startup(My application's menu depends upon the mysql database).
