Upgrading core

Hi,

I've been a linux user for a couple years, but I'm new to Fedora (I have been using Slackware since I started with linux, but due to some issues I've been having, I'm looking for an alternative). I installed Fedora Core 1 on a second hard drive to play around with it, and if I get all of the things working with it that I couldn't in Slackware, I'll switch to it (I've gotten about 3/4 of them working already). Now, my question is this: I know that with Fedora, the core is going to be upgraded every 6 months or so. How easy is it to upgrade the core? (or do you have to reinstall with the new core?) and what are the steps to do it? Do I just burn the new CDs, boot up with it and it will give me the option to upgrade? When I do upgrade, what will stay the same and what will be changed?

Thanks in advance and sorry if I sound like a n00b, but I'm used to slackware where I always just download and update the individual programs (and kernel) and don't really need to upgrade slackware.

Jeff
