update to FC6 Test2 (5.91), xserver failes
After a clean and succesfull install using dvd-iso-image 2.6.16-somthing, few days later yum-updaterd found and installed all the updates for the 2.6.17-1.2517.fc6 (5.91)release. While downloading i was able to do some work on my system, but at some point, while packages where being installed, i could't open any terminal-windows from gnome anymore, they closed as soon as they opened. After the full download & install, it required a reboot.
After the reboot, the Xserver was warped. unreadable screen. Normally an X-restart, using Ctrl-Alt-Backspace (or was it c-s-bs) will do it but no response. After another reboot the x-server restarted 8 times before giving a mn ascii-type message saying it will try again in 2 mins. browsing around for error messages, not much found but some dgm messages, i feels more like SELinux issue, as i see tons of audit(...) messages for 1st time on bootup. Fired up again with noacpi, (just to make sure) but to no avail.
It's been a bit of a nightmare since 2.6.16, i only wanted to recompile kernel, done that frequently in the past, but since the src's arent in the distro anymore.....linuxant offers a prebuilt kernel with 16k-stacks but i needed to upgrade to 2.6.17-1.
Can't find much response yet on 5.91.....it's only been around for few days, so guess have to be patient.
