update of nvidia akmod failed
 

when my system tried to get and install latest nvidia akmod the process failed

results per the following file - attached

/var/cache/akmods/nvidia/304.64-1-for-3.7.3-101.fc17.i686.failed.log

can someone suggest what action I should take?

I am assuming that this is a new clean install of fedora 17 ?
And not a upgrade using "preupgrade" or the dvd .


and you are installing the "akmod-nvidia" from yum ?

This is not a new clean install of fedora 17. It is an upgrade.

I ran my daily "sudo yum update"
and the nvidia and the kernel both arrived at the same time.

I did not separately run "yum install akmod-nvidia"

I put a transcript of that yum session on a prior thread.

This is the third f17 kernel that I received and the akmod-nvidia for the other two processed correctly.(3.6.11-1.fc17.i686 3.6.11-5.fc17.i686 3.7.3-101.fc17.i686

After doing quite a bit of research I decided to issue the command myself - the command that had failed when I did yum update - and study exactly what went wrong

so I typed
Go Figure - and I'm up and running on my latest version of f17 :)

But in fact I learned a lot from this exercise and I want to thank you for the education
