I really am a newbie - this weekend I installed Fedora Core 3 for my first foray into Linux.
At the 3rd attempt I managed to get a decent install (previous attempts bad due to lack of knowledge!).
As my install CD came with the book "Linux for Dummies", it was not bang up to date, so I was left with a massive amount of files to be upgraded. I have a 2Mb broadband, but it still took about 2 hours to download all the files.
Anyway, having downloaded all the files using Up2date, the system won't install the updates - the machine doesn't crash, just up2date freezes.
I've tried this twice, with the same result.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Up2date may be broken. The official updater in Fedora Core is Yum. Read the Fedora tutorial on Yum and maybe this for more information.
