unable to 'save as' a local copy of a web page using firefox, in fedora

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
hello everyone,
i seem to have some problem, probably not with my setup... but I dunno if its a fedora or a firefox thing.

a couple of days ago i started filling in an application form for a job online.
since i didn't finish it that night i saved a copy of the application form's html file locally. (i did that on a winxp machine using firefox)
yesterday i was on my laptop (which is running fedora) and i decided to continue with filling in the application form.

and so i did. later on i wanted to save the changes, and i tried to do 'file -> save as' (with a different file name) in firefox.. it said it saved properly and i continued.

prior to finishing completely (thank god!) i decided - after a final 'save as' (its time with a different file name) - to check that everything was saved properly.. so i reopened the final version of the web page to verify that..

but none of the changes had been saved.... the webpage was in the form that i had initially saved it from the webpage...
i verified that the folder i was in i had write permission in (i was in my home directory to start with)...

this is most upseting since i reopened the initial locally saved copy on a winxp machine and i retyped all of yesterdays work again and it saved properly this time .... what could be work with this thing??

thank you for your help

I'd say this is neither a problem with Firefox or Fedora. Forms may temporarily save data in say a Javascript array and your browser may use the autofill to (re)populate fields but forms on the 'net are by default transient. So saving the form HTML and CGI code does not imply saving actual entered form data. Apart from that CGI patsh may be relative so pressing "submit" on a locally saved form does not automagically mean it will end up where it should.
