udev fails but system boot completes successfully
 

Hi there --

I have a system with Fedora Core 5 installed, and udev comes back with a failed message along with its trying to start in the background on system boot. The remainder of the boot process completes without difficulty, and the server appears to have full functionality. When the ps -ef command was used to see if udev was running, the output indicated that udevd was running in daemon mode.

To verify that udev was running, I started the /sbin/start_udev script, and there were no errors reported. A ps -ef |grep udev command showed the same output that was mentioned earlier.

What would be causing this error to occur, and what can and should be done to correct it? Thanks.
