The Linux Kernel (What's the newest version?)

Hey all what is the newest version of the Kernel for Fedora? I have the 2149 kernel, isn't there a 2.6? If there is, would it benefit me to install it?

The kernel is available as source code for version 2.6.1
The new kernel gives u a lot of features that give great performance boost. It is trend setter.

try kernel.org for patches (p) or Full source code (F)
Fedora itself has not released a stable 2.6.x kernel.

If u want to compile
try here first. It was written for mandrake but It will get u started properly:

look at
http://people.redhat.com/arjanv/2.6/RPMS.kernel/

I must back off now, because i have not tried those packages myself.

But if u can afford to try things, tinker around ur linux ( thats how i learn a lot), then i encourage u to install them.
