tell Yum to not update repos every chuffing time??

Howdy,

Can anyone tell me if there's some clever hack or somethign to make yum not go and update the repositories every bloody time you want to search for something? it's so annoying and makes it so so so slow... i know there's cache mode, -C, but that then won't download any headers for the packages you want to download either, so that's no use either. any clues?

Cheers

That'd be nice! I know yumex doesn't always update the repos though.

ack, i didn't have a metadata_expire value set...
metadata_expire=1800

Didn't know that existed, but it looks promising!
